You get a team rating when you play 3 games with the same roster.
The team rating starts at the average rating of the people on the team. Then if they win/lose it goes up and down. But it doesn't move much more than 20 points per game, usually much less. If a 4k team plays a 3.5k team and wins they gain nothing and the 3.5k team loses nothing. If the 3.5k team wins they gain ~20 points and the 4k team loses ~10 points.
Its hard to move that tMMR far from your starting rating so its pretty much just the average of rating of the players. A few hundred points difference typically means the higher rated team will easily win a game. But not always, drafts matter and people make mistakes.

there are teams with 3-0 with 5k rating and there are teams with 80games+ with 3k rating ... hows that working?
