Slacks is cringey as fuck sometimes. But overall I think the major was a success. Single Elim means you have to bring your A game to every match. Can't get caught sleeping on a 16 seed (cough cough, Secret).

the problem was eurovision and hokey world championship. 2 best places was locked at that period

even though the SWISS format at the group stage was spectacular, the teams that got higher seeds should get more reward, like for example they already advance to top 12 waiting for lower seeds to finish their (this is just an example, not that i want them to implement it), because why would you get the top seed if you will just get eliminated in the first place (SecRekt), they should get much more reward for getting higher seed, just my opinion

                    Surtr!

                      Manila Major still the best.

The only thing I don't get is how anyone can find SirActionSlacks entertaining. The only reason I can ever laugh when he is doing anything is because he is so pathetic. You don't laugh with Slacks, you laugh about him. But the same time you somewhat feel sorry for him, because he non stop makes a retard out of himself. I talked about this with my real life friends who also play dota2 (we watched the finals of Kiev Major together at my apartment). They all agree and even want to mute the TV whenever Slacks shows up.

And no single word about the greatest fail of this tournament ?This is impossibility to buy the tickets. When only I've heared about the location of this Major,I started to plan my visit to Kiiv. But after the 3 ! hours of sales their webside was down,as the tickets were not available.
Valve fix it and NEVER come back to Ukraine.I feel shame about the region

It's misleading to say that the teams had an unfortunate draw. They were drawn against teams who played poorly in the group stage and happened to lose to them; Faceless, SG, and LGD.FY were some of the worst teams in groups at each major. The only one who could be thought of as unfortunate was VP getting EG in the 2nd round of Boston, but they drafted dumb crap like AA and Sniper.

I understand the problems with single elimination but you can't deny that we've had a deserving winner at all of the majors.

You can either have less teams at a major, have teams eliminated in groups so they get no main stage game, or you can have single elimination for knockouts. I think single elimination is the least of all evils.

^TNC comes to mind, they probably beat any other team in the bottom half of the 16 teams, but they draw Faceless, whom they've never taken a series against.
They claim to be the best team in SEA. As far as beating international competition is concerned, this is true. But until they can control their own backyard(BEAT FACELESS), they won't be considered outright best team in SEA. That's why I laughed where it says "TNC emerged as a dominant force".

we got back stage in Moscow, U can google "Crocus City Hall". There was the Epicenter a year ago. That stage seems bid enough

Kyiv have better place for Major
But it was taken for Eurovision
If Kyiv Major was later it would be much better
That what v1lat posted in his blog

@Günther - I was thinking the exact same thing, and, in fact, I do mute my TV whenever he comes on the screen. The one time I left the sound on was when the hot translator was talking to the crowd. I couldn't understand her, but the words coming out of her mouth were just purrrty.

                                                  Sleeping Dragon-睡龙?

Well, is this means no SEA Major for this year?

                                                      Kaileena

lol. Though me watched online too, but I do care enough to predict where the next major will be.
                                                        I think it's just quite interesting. :D

At the time when Boston was announced, I was already foreseeing the Winter 2017 to be either Kiev or Moscow (and they chose Kiev).

My prediction is based off on the pattern we can see for the cities chosen by Valve from Major to Major:

                                                        1. The chosen city is known to have big number of Dota players who will potentially attend the event.
                                                        2. The city has the adequate means and big venues available to hold the Major for at least 4-days straight.
                                                        3. The city is (preferably) home to one or a few well-known Dota teams.
                                                        4. The Major location switches between Dota regions from one season to the next (no region was chosen twice consecutively).
                                                        5. The city also changes from one event to another (no city has ever been chosen twice as of yet).

Hence, with these pattern I believe Moscow is out of question for now and won't be selected for Fall 2017, due to them being located in the same CIS region where Kiev already taken the turn last season. Moscow does still have a chance however, for another far ahead seasons in 2018, 2019 or even 2020.

Germany is probably also not for this Fall Major 2017 I guess. Coz Kiev is 'literally' still within the Europe region and not too far too from where Germany is. Instead of former-Major Frankfurt, I think there will be a chance for Dota to go back to Cologne sometimes between 2018 or 2019, where the very first TI was held memorably there in 2011.

This Fall Major 2017 will probably also not to be held in North America, since they already had Boston recently. Though other potential cities like New York, Vancouver, or Toronto can be taken a look for possibly become one of the 2018 Major.

Then what ? so we go back to Shanghai ?
Nope. I don't think so. Remember pattern number 5 where there is no same city has ever been selected twice to hold the Major as of yet. If Shanghai really does, then they will be the first to do so. Same thing can be said to Manila.

So now if all those cities are not to be chosen for next, then who will hold the Fall Major ?

With the remaining possible region to be either in China or SEA (to abide to the pattern), cities such as Beijing (CN), Kuala Lumpur / Genting (MY), or Singapore (SG) came up to mind. Those cities fits perfectly with the requirements above to do the Major shall Valve choose one of them. There are (in my opinion) no any other cities around Asia which is as fits as them in regards to fill the Major pattern at this point of time.

Though China has many big cities but for the sake of prestige I think Beijing is the good option if Valve do choose China. Else, they'll likely pick SEA.

Other shootout called for cities around SEA like Hanoi (VN), Bangkok (TH), Jakarta (ID), Taipei (TW), or Sydney / Melbourne (AU) but they're not as strong as a Dota 2 region compared to the aforementioned ones. They will probably have chance far in the future at around 2019+.

How about your guess ? Do you agree with this prediction ? :)

P.S.: And after all these writing, (what if) Valve just choose to take a completely different route than what I expect it ? LUL.
// Sorry for super long post.
