Once again the International group stage has one group playing more matches in a given day, making some of the calculations easier. Day one is Group A, so we are going to be picking exclusively from the nine teams in it.
gpk~, Abed, iG.Emo, LIMMP and Topson all play three matches on the opening day of the group stage and all are worthy of consideration. Topson is a bit of an unknown, in our opinion, so for now we are going to let OG be, instead concentrating on the matchups the remaining teams have.
Evil Geniuses are playing Aster, T1 and iG.
Virtus.Pro are playing Undying, Alliance and OG.
Alliance are playing OG, VP and Thunder Predator.
iG are playing T1, Undying and EG.
It is hard to compare power levels between teams on the first day, but we feel like both Evil Geniuses and Virtus.Pro are in an advantageous position. Evil Geniuses is probably more so, so our pick for the first day is Abed.
Historically, it is hard to argue in favor of offlane players in the core section of the fantasy league. Following the same logic as above, therefore, we are definitely putting in Arteezy, who is among the top earners and has great matchups tomorrow.
We will also put in Aster.Suma1L-, who has always been one of the biggest fantasy earners. If you do not feel confident about OG or seeing Sumail and Arteezy next to each other makes you irrationally nostalgic and sad, you can go for Nightfall in his stead.
Support-wise, position fives typically do much better, with several notable exceptions. This is also the role least reliant on winning the game when it comes to fantasy, hence we can undervalue team matchups in our predictions.
Looking at stats from the last several tournaments, VP.Fng and TSM FTX.DuBu stand out. That said, if you don’t feel confident in Team Undying or Alliance performance, OG.N0tail is a good alternative.

those who followed this, what score did they get ?
@Ang3lic not bad, Sumail and Rtz were 1 and 3 cores (Nightfall 2), Abed was 4th Mid (Bryle-Emo-gpk top 3) but for mid it made little difference, Dubu 2nd Support. Fng a bit of a miss, he got 9th amongst supports.
I went Sumail (1) - Rtz (3) - gpk (3) - Dubu (2) - Notail (6)
