first be sure you pick am if they have intel heroes and not too many counters : lot of disables on lane / pushing comp.
as am you should have bf manta basher pt at 25 min mark if you had a decent game (not even free farmed). You rely on farm for this 25 first min so your team has to make space for you and avoid big team fights if they cant win them/too far behind.Come sometimes to get kills with your ult and go farm to the opposite of where enemies are , split push with tp in inventory , dont use blink on lane to get creeps ( keep it to escape until you ahve that lvl 15 talent for blink cd).
tbh most am pick i see are totally retarded and they just end by loosing lane so hard that they cant come back.i play offlane btw
If you split push properly enemy team shouldn't be able to group up and fight your team. This way you can take engagements at your leisure (AKA when you have enough items to fight them). Also if you are playing AM in a reasonable AM game you don't need a lot of items to contribute, just blink on a backliner -> manta -> mana void. Some games you can even just mana void some core like pugna/lesh/storm and that's all the contribution you need.
if you are behind and playing antimage checkout someone's video called uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
guru-pathick's dota guide to playing from behind im too lazy to get you a link so just search for it
Just watch rtz's gameplay, farm very fast, perform an amazing escape trick and let the mid laner win the game

So it seems like when i play anti mage i have to farm a bunch. SO If i lane well then leave to go farm i guess my team needs to be winning for my farm to matter right? I cant leave jungle after 30 mins with a bf manta basher and bkb and expect to 1v5. So if my teams not winning is am garbage?
