FULL TRANSLATION FROM STARCRAFT REDDIT BY SWEDISH USER (taken from joindota)
''I started playing Warcraft 3 many years ago while I was still in school. 7th grade if I remember, maybe even a little earlier. But it got more and more serious the older I got and the more I got intrested in gaming due to me always liking challenges.
Time went on and my parents had only one demand on me. That I finished Gymnasium(Highschool-ish?) and then I could do what I wanted with my life.
It was under this time that Starcraft 2 came out and I felt that I wanted to give it a chance to become Pro. I thought that since I was playing Wc3 at a decent level I should have some potential, but I quickly realized the world was a bigger place then I thought. I started in Germany where I developed a lot as a player, to then have a really bad experience by being kicked off EPS. But I've never been a person that stops trying because of a setback. No matter how hard it is or was I never give up. Its one of the bigger prides in my life. I won MLG Dallas right after and I thought I was at the top, I had arrived, I was the best at that time. But little did I know this was only the begining.
(At the) Next MLG 4 or 6 Koreans showed up to the competition and I got crushed. Every other foreigner also got crushed. It was a "wake-up" call I didnt belive would have happened like it did.
I had for the first time realized that it was so much bigger and harder then anything that ever existed in Warcraft or any other game. I realized all this, and the only thing I could do was either to give up or go to Korea to practice with the best. I chose the latter, mopst people knonw that I dont like to give up, but this was only my first test of competition, it felt great to know that becoming the best "foreigner" only was the first step on the road to becoming a really good player.
Im not entierly sure what more I can say about this now, I just wanted to share my view of gaming. I've played Dota1 a lot under my Wc3 times and I know how simple of a game it is comparred to Starcraft, and the same with LoL. These games will never get any big respect in my eyes since they've never understood the real rivalry that exists in gaming. Or well, the LoL players seems to understand now with being crushed by Koreans even in a game with such a low skillcap.
When I see a tournament like LCS, The International etc, I feel like its like winning the lottery. There seems to be many nice guys in Dota that doesnt deserve any hate, its not meant to be a personal assault towards anyone. But when I hear about people winning tens of thousands of dollars in an American mobatournament and belive they are the kings of the world I just want to laugh at them when they dont realize how easy their game is.
Everyone is obviously welcome to like anygame they want regardless if its Sims, Dota, Wc3, SC2, CS, etc. But to try and compare playing the Wimbledon in tennis to playing with a Yo-Yo together is kind of how I see SC2 vs Moba. Its not a competitive sport in my eyes.''
If DotA is so easy... why isn't he switching?
That's right, he knows he won't win, because DotA doesn't depend on APM but skill, experience, positioning, timing, drafting, among others.
Starcraft requires different skills...but ultimately starcraft is not comparable to a major professional sport and dota is.
The kind of big time professional sports that people watch by the hundreds of millions are the team games because they are more difficult, more complex, and more interesting. Tennis will always have a small following of people who at some point in their lives became personally connected to the game. But baseball, cricket, football, american football, basketball...etc these games will always draw huge numbers of fans, people who have never played it will love the games because they are in so many ways superior to a simple 1 v 1.
Team games have far more possibilities, far more spectacle, far more action, far more strategy than a 1 v 1 can ever have. They are also more difficult to play at the highest level because of the coordination with the team that is required. Starcraft, or any 1 v 1, no matter how complex will never be comparable to a game like dota.
...and yes obviously this is about how he thinks he is better at gaming than Alliance because he has high APMs and is jealous of the money and the fame that he is beginning to realize he has spent his short life working for in the entirely wrong direction. He might even become a pro dota player if he tried...but all the work he already put into the wrong game...well now he is just mad about it not paying off.
