delete this post and dont contact isp and never talk about it again, u are now the wifi bender and can get any speed u desire and must not tell anyone about this or ur powers will be sheathed.
Ok i have 0 idea how this happened but what i do know is that a ping of 4ms is fucking impossible unless u are the neighbour of ur internet provider.i think that u might just connect to some kind of server that is in your house(prob another computer that acts like one) and thats it. Or do you notice some kind of speed differnce?
Use it as long as you can because they will notice, its their job to push it down to as bad as they possibly can before you complain.
Muahahahaha peasants
EDIT: Also wifi is naturally slower than being directly cabled to the hub, have you tried using power adapters to connect so you don't have cables running everywhere.
As far as ADSL is concerned you should be about 58/8 = 7.25 which give or take is about an 8mb download speed depending on what you were sold, it's highly unlikely that an ISP would have you uncapped like that unless that's the actual speed they're providing to you.
My home internet is like 20 down, 5 up with a 80 ms ping. American internet is surprisingly awful compared to other places when you consider were supposed to be a tech leader

I've always had 4-10ms ping, so yea, as said above, nothing unusual about it.
@Havoc, I found this from when I studying in the UK
#FirstWorldNostalgia ;p
Their server appears to be just down the road from me.

It Checks your speed of internet based on THE BEST server available. It's physically impossible to have ping of 3 on a server farther than 400km(with a straight cable). Otherwise it means that it's faster than light.
BTW here's my shameful result:

Basically I pay my ISP for 16 / 8 mb (download / upload). This is written in the contract, and that's always been my download/upload speed for the last two years.
Today I was messing around with the wifi router settings and I fucked something up,
when I plug my laptop straight into DSL modem to figure things out, I went to create a new 'lan; high speed' connection using the same user/pw from ISP I get a different 'uncapped' internet speed? Am I potato, how does this happen?
