I'm surprised it's not Malaysia (with Esports having government support) or Singapore, but there's probably a bigger market in the Philippines

$3,000,000 prizepool (or P141,000,000 in Philippines currency). (눈_눈)
And tbh its a logical choice since the philippines is top 3 in no. of doto players in d world :]
They can fill up dat state of the art stadium in manila mall of asia full of doto fans :]
Hopefully. But you know, filipino fans sometimes suddenly transform into a hater fan that throw a lot of colourful curses to everbody: even their own countrymen xD
LOL I hate it when you ignorant people give unfair general comments about my countrymen when you people obviously lack the capacity to understand basic demography.
I'm pretty sure a Pinoy 15-year old is about as idiotic as any first world boy of the same age - nuances are nuances, but is being brown enough to say we lack the ability to adapt finesse and correct etiquette? I'm not gonna deny that the educational system here is complete dogshit, but all of the people here I know are so sweet and generous, they just lack what most advanced civilizations may regard as 'common knowledge' but is that what really matters to survive life in their ramshackle hovels?
Fuck you and your capitalist asses.
Dota 2 major will be rejected/ban by the government of the philippines. Because the dota her in the philippines is one of the cancer of the country. TBH. some of the province of the philippines was approved to ban the dota... (its just a theory) but i know this is gonna happen.. I know all my country men.
Add me.. 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓
USD 3,000,000 👉143,000,000 PESOS.. i can buy a lot of bae...
^Not if they realize that esports is a multimillion dollar project they can profit from.
Before the government ban DoTA 2, they must focus first on much important matters: corruption, political dynasty, crime and drugs, etc.
They banned dota 2 in a few lan cafes because alot of kids would outright skip school every single day to go play
Dota was only banned in 2 provinces because of alleged "shop fights" that resulted into deaths of some minors. Most of them are caused by your typical LAN trashtalk, an apparent show of lack of proper etiquette, but IMHO the very root cause of these petty-word-warrioring-of-kids-in-your-cyber-shops-turned-into-"hey imma fuck your throat up with this knife because you hurt my feelings in a computer game"-bloodshed is because of the poor upbringing of parents of their offspring(and of some physically matured but mentaly retarded, middle aged jobless bum-patrons of these shops). I saw the issue brought up on the local nightly news and all I could ever think of is that these irresponsible parents are forcing to turn the game into their convenient scapegoat. What parent in their right mind would let their kids out past curfew hours to play in a computer shop at night with some potentially physchologically unstable people?
don't hate on this innocent computer game just because your parenting game sucks.
To add to but wait, there's more's post, please watch this youtube vid to see what he's talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgdnQdcoxDQ
Some of the government officials given already a thumbs up for Manila Majors already. We know that Filipino people can adapt good camaraderie and sportsmanship in terms of E-Sports since we have been through in international and local tournaments already with good sponsors
I agree. I play DoTA mostly for fun. I never (and not planning to) buy any cosmetics item in DoTA 2 because for me its not worth it. Though it feels good if someone gift's you an item or drop you a random loot haha.
And this news, its pretty disturbing o(╥﹏╥)o

Woah now that's something. Truly looks like Valve has some serious interest in the Manila market. I guess probably Philippines has one of the most growing eSports market in the world.
Here is where you can read more about the upcoming Manila majors right before TI6: Valve Announces Next Dota 2 Majors to be Held in Manila, Philippines
