I'm sure this is actually a troll by Valve and it's just a remodel for Phantom Lancer.
Monkey King is a character in other games, why would they remodel a fucking trash hero like PL
@sam if they want to play a tit-for-tat vs io arcana that they would eventually lose in the end, sure.
Obviously it won't be a troll, people would murder Valve then. However, his old, scrapped skill-set was very illusion-based and looked very similar to the current PL so most people thought the hero wouldn't be released anymore. Also he looks very similar to PL and even in this video he has a lot of illusions.
From the teaser we can predict some things.
1 - he has some kind of an aoe slam nuke(possibly comed with a stun).
2 - some kind of a knock-back spell.
3 - he summons illusions with his ultimate to strike a single target?
Overall, seems like another pain-in-the-ass-to-play-against evasive illusion hero. That's it for now.
ffs, there is wukong in LoL, Sun Wukong in Smite, Monkey King in HoN. The charaacter isn't original, character set is going to be stale aswell. A quick, low damage, low HP carry.
It looks to me like the illusions would be part of his ult, channeled in an area(notice how he loses his staff when he summons his illusions)
They're all based on Sun Wukong from Journey to the West (which The New Journey update is a reference to as well). It's also The Year of Monkey in China, fitting his release.
That quest video on dota 1. The same thing happen to phoenix before its introduced long time ago.
it's probably a troll, but sun wukong was in a patch as a easeter egg.
now about those is that back in DotA, some heroes before released would be like hidden easter egg boss fights. so it's posisbly true but i would say that it's rather a troll.
just because it's pretty much just a copy/paste from other games.

Isnt PL based on the MK skill set, or maybe the MK will be like the old pl with longer illusions
Doesnt look like it in the video, looks like he has linear-cast stun/nuke, an ability to disguise himself as a tree, a knockback skill and what looks like a channeling illusion spell for his skillset so far

As of now, there's no info on his abilities on the dota wiki. So far we only have an official trailer.
What do you guys think his ability set would be? Is it possible that we're getting a new tree-interacting hero with him? Tree jumping, tree morphing and all
