Hey friend, i think the easiest way you'll start improving, is to click your watch tab, Find a game that is just starting with a hero you enjoy playing and watch either 'player perspective' or free camera and watch how a High mmr player approaches his lane, his starting items, different lane matchups.
watch how he skills, and think to yourself 'why did he skill that way'
Watch his farming patterns if a core, or his support rotations if he's a support, Watch how they'll play aggressive or defensive based on who on the enemy team is showing.
Watch how they lose or abuse powerspikes, and simply just 'anaylise what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong'
After you have a good understanding about the way they are playing and why, you can slowly impliment factors into your game.
eg. I learnt alot recently about playing Pos 5, i litterally buy wards out of stock for the entire duration of the game and cover the entire map in sentries. It works wonders
^you cant improve with 1k mmr hotkeys and 1000 camera ms olol
Learn how to use shift queue, quick cast etc
@ < blank > is right. I learned how to play phoenix by filtering the watch tab with phoenix games. Learning HOW to watch games is important. Pause every 15-20 seconds and ask yourself what he should do. Unpause and see if you are right. If not pause and think why. Do this often in the laning phase and as the game progresses you can do this every 2 - 3 minutes. Its slow but it will help you understand the thought processes and decision making by higher skilled players. The lessons you learn from 6-7k mmr games will still apply to you.
I swear to god there's always some kind of shitposting every time people ask how to mention gain mmr.
Find a good hero for every situation, I spammed Axe when enemy have physical late game right click carry, I one game I literally dont know what to pick, a teammate said "pick underlord, spam area root at teamfights", and I win my first ranked underlord game.
Learn about drafting and counter picking.
Honestly, hope for the best that you find good teammates.
The only reason I'm losing ranked games is because either my team doesn't pick support, or I go support instead but my carries are braindead SEA monkeys.
(I know I'm at the 1k bracket but I watch alot of pro dota matches so I can say that I have the knowledge of a 5k but skill of a 1k lmfao)
I d be happy to help you via guidinf or coaching id you are down for it. Im a former div 5 rank 2600 player now sadly pushed back to div 3. Nonetheless ill be happy to help. Add me on steam if ud like that
Pretty sure 2ks don't know how to lane yet. Last hitting still probably terrible. Learn how to dominate your lane and get good farm first 10 mins will get you to 3k for sure
this was my post https://www.dotabuff.com/topics/2018-04-30-after-2-years-now-herald-5?page=2 when i was in herald[5]. now in Legend 2 going legend 3. I spam Clinkz, Lycan and recently CK.... clinkz and lycan is objective heroes, focus on pushing. strong in laning as well... I pick CK when somebody else take mid...or i go safelane, or if still pick safelaner, i go lich as support.
in this meta its about laning, if you lose 10 minute laning stage its really hard to come back.
in archon bracket, i spam clinkz and lycan, simply because supports are not that strong, they have limited sentries... lycan is easy push as the team barely respond to my tower push.
You will never find happiness by improving at dota, because it requires too much effort and its meaningless in real life, you just gonna wake up one day look your medal you given so much time to improve then look at your neglected life in shambles and thinking about suicide.
^^well if anyone knows a bit of psychology/philosophy they would know first of all, happiness is just an emotion it's not what ppl crave. that's called fulfillment. and fulfillment doesnt come from outside anyway. so "IRL" stuff dont give u that "happiness" either. celebrities killing themselves and using drugs and alcohol and being depressed is no news. but anyway that's a whole deeeeeeeeeeeeeep rabbit hole itself so im just gonna answer op now
@op i was stuck at 3k for 2 years. few months isnt close to that. but the important part is learning. if u keep learning and improving difffernt aspects of ur playstyle, at some point u get a breakthrough and start grinding. malcom gladwell has this 10000 rule, that if u wanna achieve mastery u'll need something around the average of 10k hours on that thing. and i dont mean hours played dota on steam. actual time put to learning the thing. so playing, learning, analysing, etc.
i just wanna tell u set ur intention. as the guys above said, dota isnt what's gonna bring u joy or happiness by itself. If u know why u wanna get to legend in the first place that would help u realize how much u wanna put on dota. CUZ IT TAKES A SHIT TON OF ENERGY AND TIME AND EMOTIONAL LABOR to master dota, or to even get good in a good pace. if u wanna just casually get good, watch coaching sessions like bsj's and rawdota's, watch content, replays, games. play specific heroes and not all over the place hero pool. and u slowly gain more knowledge and game sense, enough to very slowly get to legend or whatever u want.
if u wanna put all ur life on dota so u can gain something off of it some day that's a whole other story. the problem with A LOOOT OF dota palyers is they dont really wanna go pro. they dont wanna make money off of it. they dont want anything from dota. but they put all their time on it. they watch streams. they watch tutorials. they play 10 matches a day. all for nothing. that is recipe for depression and disaster
so think those through then decide if u wanna use my slowly get good method or wanna tryhard all the way

hey guys, I've been stuck in the 2500 mmr bracket for months now and I feel like im not improving. Currently im at 2300. Does someone have insights or is willing to give me some coaching cause my goal is to atleast reach legend. I tried spamming tinker but I'm still hovering on 50% +/-. I think my laning overall is kinda weak yet I dont really see what im doing wrong.
Thanks
