He's one of the easiest heroes to play and win. Just skill Aphotic Shield first and use it a lot, and you pretty much win games.
Oh and buy a courier, ward, or mek if your team doesn't have one. If you do you have a better chance of winning.
purge the enemy stuns with your shield on other allied heros. heal them with your first if they get low. spam your heal when your ult is triggered, you will get healed harder.
as for items i suggest mana boots and meka, vlads for pushing etc
If you want to win more better play abbadon as a support hero. Semi carry Abba doesn`t make any sense,Abba can carry as well with good farm but I think ppl wont let you farm that much and is useless,cos there are like for example 20 or more strongest carries than Abba can be. So focus on support and you can get later some items which gave you some chance for your `semi carry`. So you are going mana boots,so you can always spamm shield and heal in fights and keep your alies alive.After a while you get meka or vladimir,and after that you can build some luxury items like sange and yasha or Ac..and that`s than your semi carry. I play Aba in most cases as a semi carry.
1st point goes to aphotic Shield and the second to Mist Coil (which is a very nice finisher if the situation allows it). then continue to lvl ur aphotic shield and also put 1 early point in Abas aura.
Items I buy: Start: 1 Tango, Circlet, Shield
early: Bracer, Shoes, Mad Mask (most important Item on Aba Semicarry)
mid: Phase Booty, Skull Basher
from here it depends if u are an initator and need more defense go for Blade Mail. Daedalus is also an option as you are really fast hitting and can use dat Crit pretty good.
Especially in mid Game the Aba Semi Carry can Shine. With his Mad Mask he can win almost any 1vs1 Situation at this stage, if there are no fed enemies. But it is true, that he will be outcarried easyly later by the hard carries though he will be still able to contribute as an initiator and support. Especially dispelling with his aphotic shield can be very helpful.
So if you want to you can give a aba semi carry a try. He can make things happen, and doesnt need much farm as his core item (Mad mask) is cheap but he wont be the man during the whole game.
ps: This is just my style playing him, and considering he was the first Dota character I started to play frequently in my early days my stats with him are ok.
Abaddon is one of my favourite heroes, but I like to build him as a support because he really doesn't need much farm to be effective.
My usual starting items: courier, wards, tango, healing salve, ironwood branch(or a clarity).
After starting items: (upgrade courier by the 3 min mark if noone else does it) -> brown boots -> bracer -> urn(or you can get a mek) -> arcane boots -> drum
If I'm doing well: yasha(sometimes I turn it to SnY), Assault Cuirass, Vlads(if you have meele teammates and noone else is building it)
My usual skill build: maxing shield by level 7 with 1 point in Mist Coil (lvl 2) and 1 point in Curse of Avernus (lvl 4), ulti at lvl 6, then maxing Mist Coil and after that Curse of Avernus.
If I wanted to build him as a semi-carry I guess I'd get: phase boots, SnY, vlads/MoM, AC, basher, HoT
As for skill build I'd go: max shiled by 7 with 2 points in Curse of Avernus and ulti at 6, then max Curse of Avernus, then Mist coil + stats
But if you want a semi-carry, it's better to pick another hero.
There's only 2 builds for him, the Mask of Madness & SnY/Skadi build or "mek/refresher/arcane boots build. Enjoy!

So i have played this hero about 3-4 times and find nothing except feeder and noob yeah -_-
How i will built this hero as semi-carry? Which skills i have to pick it first? And what item should i buy to be a semi-carry?
