He is underplayed because people like copy-catting pro games even though they have no clue how to play those heroes. Since he isn't picked anymore, pubs stopped picking him as well.
might be due to him not being as mobile as aintmage, or his ult being as gamechanging as void's
either way, last time i picked him i did not do too good despite having had time of farm so i'm mad about him

I like the hero but sometimes i get really mad with him. I mean i CANT win late game with troll, in the moment the enemy supports get forcestaffs and more stuffs its imposible for me to focus someone. Any slow or stun that goes through bkb fucks troll so hard, plus i think troll needs hp too because even with bkb a range carry can make him really sad. When i win with him its when my team have plenty of crowd control or a good initiator like magnus. Other heroes like spectre, void, am, pl they dont need to rely so much on their team late game. He reminds me a little to skeleton king, gets kited so easy. Almost every other carry has a good mobility skill ( spectral dagger, blink, sukuchi, etc ... ). That its why i like sangue and yasha on him ( movement speed, hp )
I agree with everything you said dorkly but it's also likely in a pub match he's not going to be the only hard carry, so just buffing a spectre or void or gyro or luna etc with your ult is amazingly useful, and most teams will have some cc. He doesn't seem any more or less kitable than say lifestealer.

Yeah that its what i mean, i dont like playing him like a 1, i really like having other carry on my team because troll can fight like really early without a lot of items.
Troll should be built into a pusher.
He is a ok carry. But a great pusher.
If you want good carry, spec/void/ls/luna/etc is way better (given same amount of farm)
troll is like lycan now. both ok-ish carry. fantastic pusher. very underpicked now.
also: try troll + tiny fun duo pusher. crazy pushing power. tiny can get lots of attack speed and only need scept
a troll being kited is fucked up as shit. need lock downs in your teams. and yeah hes a pusher

1. Why is troll warlord so underplayed?
He's 81st this month, around the likes of kotl and disruptor and AA. Personally I think he's a sick hero, big time carry potential and his ult buffs the entire team. You can instant rax if other team has anyone down and you're at their tower. You can split push towers and kill them and run before anyone is the wiser if their fortify is down.
2. Why is his win rate so low?
He is a farm dependent hero with no escapes sure, but the ability to switch between ranged and melee, that miss rate on his whirling axes, the slow on his ranged axes, his bash, all make farming easy. And his ult, even if underfarmed you can greatly buff other carries and pushers. Once he has phase boots he's pretty hard to kill without disables, he'll either whirl you and bash you to death or run away from fights he can't win. I don't consider him hard to play, getting last hits in ranged mode and switching to melee mode are not that hard for me.
3. What are some good builds for him?
I don't think he has a ton of variety in builds. I pretty much always go phase boots, bas/aquilla, dominator, medallion of courage/bkb in some order, crystalis, then I decide between upgrading to satanic, daedalus or going butterfly. It kinda depends on whether I want survivability vs nukers (satanic), right clickers and more end game item (butterfly), or the cheapest dmg upgrade (daedulus). Once you get medallion you can usually solo rosh around lvl 11-12. It's a pretty close fight, so getting crystalis is a much safer way to do it. Going bas/aquilla lets you spam whirling axes to push lanes then go jungle farm til they get pushed back. You don't really even need dominator to jungle farm cus of the miss rates on axes, but dominator is great when fighting other right clickers- pop your ult, get bashes and win. Sometimes I will go vlad's over dominator if we have another melee carry on the team, they're pretty equal in str from solo perspective but having the option to upgrade to satanic is nice.
