I have a friend trying to reach 5k, but he is stuck at 4.6k because he says his teammates suck
In theory, players in a ranked match will "try harder to win", but its certainly not always the case. Also, some players who are trying hard to win, will still throw a rage fit and hurt their already dwindling chances of winning the match.
If you really want to do everything you can to win, you got to stack. Satellizer above me here seems to play stacks. That combined with SA server seems to provide wins *chuckle*.
anyway, my suggestion is to make two accounts, and have one for just messing around and one for trying as hard as possible.
Aye sir, SA is really weak compared to US and EU.
And here you don't have to play 5 man wisp stack everytime to win, sometimes just a duo is enough.

Disagree. I play some solo CM and its usually vs other solo's (maybe with one or two small stacks on each team)
If you communicate when picking heroes its the best you can get playing solo. You get a well balanced team with much less Russians as they can't instant pick Pudge. Plus side is that if no one answers you during hero select or they all speak another language you can just abandon (maybe you will get LP but who cares, at the very least it wont count on DB)

In an attempt not to give a troll answer: South American players, usually Brazilians and Peruvians, have been stereotyped as being "bad" or "rude" players. Players often have a similar outlook on Russian players. Obviously not all SA players are bad.
If you ignore that, there is still a language barrier which is an issue.
As far as the Pro Dota scene goes, SA is concerned a "weak" competitive scene.
I have been playing Sven since the patch. That +3 armor is really nice, makes a big difference. Try him for causal fun
the problem is that i usually get 2 situations which are terrible for me
a) someone ganks lot and gets fed but the team is not pushing so i end up losing not because we did bad my team starts playing passive instead of pushing(most common one)
b) the team is very passive- no ganks no pushing no farm they just wander around
What can i do in these situations in order to win?
All ratings have play to win people, its just that they suck and dont realize it at lower ratings.
Hey there , 1 question: I play EU WEST, i tried playing on Australian or SA Servers 1 Time, cuz some1 said its easier there, aka mmr Pushing.
But when i played there, i had like 130ms and couldnt play. lasthitting is a joke with that ping.
but i see ppl playing on all kind of servers, do they live with the lag or is there any solution ?
That doesn't mean they don't care about the game's outcome, it just means they are bad. I'm around 3400 and it's still hard to get people to do everything to win, the worst is the picks. Players still would rather pick for fun vs winning.
hmm Ok^^ Then i dont know why it lags, i got an 100 mbit connection and a pretty new computer where BF4 runs smooth, so i dont think its the Hardware. I thought mb there are some commands i can throw into the console or sth but mb im wrong.

Based on my personal experience of playing with the various parties of people. This is an opinion of how I see them and their playstyles and doesn't accurately portray 100% of the community.
2-3000 - Play for fun, know they're trash and enjoy fucking about.
3-4000 - Play a bit more seriously and are prone to be very protective of their rating e.g making forum posts about it.
4-5000- IMO hold a massive share of good players. Most of the players who make it to stay into this bracket are worth playing with.
5000-5500 - Unbelievably boastful about their rating though a lot of them got there by illicit means. Tend to be egotistical and and actively search for players of a like mind and will not play with people who don't play by their rules. These players were previously known as #earthspirit & #broodmother pickers.
5500-Infinity & Beyond - Most of these people will win without even trying.
Note: Solo CM is either super dick and you end up just questioning life or you meet good players of similar mind and playstyle to you and you make new friends and get a good stack going.
Is it really that hard to last hit with 130 ping? I play about 100-150 ping constantly and I don't notice shit.
LOL is someone really complaining about 130ms? ROFL that's not a high ping at all... things get annoying only after 180~200.
It's easier to blame ping then to admit error. I play in US tournments and US East/West all the time and sit around 110 ping or more. This has never to date been and issue and I can still play without any latency or delay issues.
I know at least 2 5k+ players (one of them is 5500 ish) who are nice and friendly towards lower skill players too.
And some 2.2k who think they shit dota and are the best carries with omniknight...

most SA players play with 150 and higher ping rates in the US east... personally i get around 140 when i play there from Europe. Ofc its harder to play but u can't complain about lags! like wtf thats just the tip of the ice...it starts lagging and rly affecting on a big scale when u play on SA from europe.... there u get around 230 and your heroes move as if you're stacked with batrider shit BUUUUUUUUT unless ur a 2k noob fucing shit u should still be able to do decent! If i had to give a ping to how i played for 3 years DOTA down to SA servers, i'd say over 350 and still fucking managed to play decent games
Try playing on an internet connection that frequently drops below 1 mbps download speed and spikes to around 1000ms. Trust me, I have a lot of experience with lag, it sucks. :(
Ping has nothing to do with bandwidth, only server location. Ping is how quickly the smallest packet can move form point X to point Y. Bandwidth is your highest potential throughput of data. It is possible to have your network setup really poorly and get bad ping but in general networks are optimized for ping latency and thus the only deciding factor is distance. It's possible something in your router setup or modem might be giving you slower ping than you should have, but certainly upgrading to 100 mbit internet won't do anything for it.
Well i am having a lot of problems with packt losses, and believe me when you click and your hero doesnt move its a problem
one time I joined a stack, and they had only AUS selected, and i was 800-900 ping the whole game.. thats like a 1 second delay. When asked why.. they said something about revenge..
Are you on wireless? If so packet loss is probably some issue with your wireless router or adapter.
you need to specialize. Play durable (aka tanky) heroes that you have a high win rate with. Stop trying to play every hero, learn every hero etc. Be good at 5 heroes, preferably durable semi-carries that can go in any lane.
Necro, Centaur, Bristle.
Always go for the offlane. play it safe at first as an offlaner, get your levels. Dont go for the safelane, as your terrible team mates will have a better time with it.
Lastly, if you watch pro dota and understand how to use furion with a midas and shadowblade.... you can easily split push yourself to 3.5k through rat dota.

practice high impact (preferably mid) heroes over and over. if you can't exploit ur opponents' weaknesses more than they feed on ur teammates u won't move up; simple but brutal fact
I tried LC but I seem to lose with her because I am too hesitant in casting my ulti. For example if I am lv 6 and the enemy is 6 and we are alone I choos not to duel because I am afraid that I won't have time to finish him while my ulti is active. How should I proceed?
You wont ever stop getting people who are not taking things seriously. You will always encounter people who choose to play ranked and still play casually. I can tell that 4,5k+ mmr you still get alot of people who do not give a damn, and even higher people rarely tryhard. To name some examples of known players we would have singsing and n0tail.
To the LC thing:
Don't play Lc, Lc requires that you have the skills to make good decisions, which you only get when you played this game for a long ass time. You should avoid heroes who requires 2 much positioning, decisionmaking, farm and other kind of advanced skills.
You should avoid heroes like:
meepo, chen, invoker, lc, storm etc.
and you should try and learn heroes like:
drow, viper, sniper, juggernaut, riki etc.
also note that you wont make it out of the 2,4k bracket just like that, you need to take a long rocky road like everyone else here did.
Just make sure that the hero you are playing is not a hardcarry or any kind of hero which requires 2 much game knowledge. You can always turn to the more complex heroes later.
As many have said there is no rating at which ppl all tryhard to win every game. There is no MMR when suddenly you stop getting throwers and feeders.
If you want MMR to go up significantly you have to play your best heroes. Pick heroes that cause you to win. Moving 500 MMR is a big deal. It's equivalent to a 20 game win streak... or wining 60% of the next 100 games. Slow or fast you have to do a LOT better to go up.
For you I recommend Centaur, Necrophos, and Zues.
I feel you. I started at 2.8k and now I'm at 4.1k after a month. It's hard, but I think it's achievable if you can choose heroes that doesn't requires "critical" decision making like storm and invoker, better if you will pick a support and study warding positions/dewarding, pick a pub stomper heroes like TB or tanky heroes (abaddon, cw, axe). Good supports and fast comprehension on the situation of the game are some of the things that can be a factor in winning ranked matches.
