It's not the best support but it is certainly viable in particular lineups but unlike alch who can do catch up decently well with acid spray in the jungle stacking camps if SK doesn't get a good start with the team you're a little bit fucked.
personally I don't think 1 active hero is very fun. probably effective though.
now icefrog just needs to make morphling support viable…
yeah I have been seeing him a lot in the qualifiers. They usually go for treads, wand, blademail. Would like to try it out.
he can be a tank with morph strength, a stunner with adaptive strike, a nuker with waveform, and help the carry create illusions with his ult
obviously not as effective as carry morph otherwise he'd actually be used as a support. I'd say buff his replicate damage maybe? and his adaptive strike max stun? those wouldn't help a carry morph at all but makes his support viable.

^seconding max stun thing. When in same team with PL or AM, support Morph can create quite dangerous illusions with his ulty.
I think waveform is the foremost reason for his support being meh. Supports generally want to stay back because there's no point getting up close unless you have an aoe ability around you. Sand King's burrowstrike operates on a similar level as waveform but as a support it's a lot better due to aoe stun being significantly better than aoe damage as well as epicenter lending him to being in the middle of the fray. A support Morphling wouldn't mind getting up close due to high strength, but what are you going to do after that? Body block? Morph agility and whack them?
Speaking of which, Morph also lends itself more to a carry. As I have just mentioned, morphing agility is just stupid if you have arcane boots and a mek, because… well, it makes you die without adding much to the damage output. But as a carry, morphing IN battle becomes significantly more useful.
Adaptive Strike, although acceptable, isn't that good either. While a reliable 3-second stun on 10 second cooldown is solid, it's single target and there are many other better alternatives such as Telekinesis or Impale. Also, supports are going to have lower levels, and 0.75 sec at levels 1-5 (you're going to get waveform and 1 level of morph first…) is pretty shitty.
Replicate is probably the skill as doesn't get significantly worse, due to the 100% damage taken by the illusion. But it's a single illusion with a massive downtime at lower levels. Better used for insta-teleportation.
Food for thought; would Morphling be stronger or weaker with Strength as his main attribute? Build a mjollnir then stuff all your points into Str?
What's the difference between support wk and carry wk? I never understand these threads, like what does a support drow build vs a carry drow? They build the same shit usually, the only difference is picking one when you have 2 or 3 carries already.

Dota2pedia once suggested me an alternate Wraith King build (not exactly a supportive one, but more fun) with Arcane boots, rushing a Dagon and skipping crit altogether in favor of stats to spam his stun in lane and to always go in the teamfight first like an idiot to stun, dagon, activate a blademail and die to proc the ulti as some sort of pseudo initiator. It sounds incredibly stupid, but certainly more fun than classic WK...I need to try that.
I did like your support morph theorycrafting. I actually thought it's kind of viable before, but you had some good points. I immediately regret my decision.
Why do you want to make blade mail on this hero? If the other team was any fucking intelligent they would realize he's a glorified melee creep at best. So what that hes right clicking you, he does like 65 damage. lol. Just silence him and focus other targets.
